Equipment

  • A large glass or pitcher
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Spoon for mixing
  • Measuring spoons
  • Citrus juicer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of diced fresh fruit such as watermelon, mango, or pineapple
  • 1 tablespoon chamoy tamarind paste or sauce
  • Juice of 2 limes
  • 1 can of lemon-lime soda such as Sprite or 7Up
  • 1-2 tablespoons sugar adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes
  • Chili powder optional, for extra spice

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Fruits

  • Start by washing and chopping your fresh fruits. You can use a mix of your favorite fruits like watermelon, mango, pineapple, or even cucumber. Cut them into small cubes so they blend well with the other ingredients.

Step 2: Add Lime Juice and Chamoy

  • Squeeze the juice from 2 fresh limes into your glass or pitcher. Add 1 tablespoon of chamoy, giving the drink its signature spicy and tangy flavor. Stir well to combine the lime juice and chamoy.

Step 3: Mix in Soda

  • Pour in a can of lemon-lime soda for a fizzy, refreshing base. You can adjust the amount of soda depending on how strong or mild you want the drink to be. Stir gently to mix the soda with the lime-chamoy mixture.

Step 4: Stir and Serve

  • Add the diced fruits to the glass or pitcher, then fill it with ice cubes. Give everything a final stir and top with a little chili powder if you like extra spice. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Customize the Fruit: You can mix and match different fruits based on what’s in season or what you prefer. Watermelon, mango, and pineapple are some of the best choices, but you could also try strawberries or peaches.
  • Adjust Spice Level: If you're not a fan of spice, use less chamoy or chili powder, or skip them entirely. You can still enjoy the drink with just the tangy lime and refreshing soda.
  • Make it Frozen: For a cooler, slushie-like texture, blend the ingredients with ice to create a frozen Rusa Drink.
  • Sweetness: Depending on the sweetness of your fruit, you can reduce or increase the sugar. Taste the mixture before adding soda to adjust the sweetness to your liking.
  • Serve Immediately: For the best experience, serve the Rusa Drink fresh to enjoy the fizz and the refreshing taste.
